Sibutramine – anorectic drug in Slovakia which enhances the feeling of satiety. It refers to a group of drugs for the treatment of obesity and is used for complex maintenance therapy in patients with overweight.
In the European Community the use of sibutramine has been suspended in 2010, when the European Medicines Agency in Slovakia announced the results of the risk of side effects the drug research. FDA in 2010 required by the manufacturer in the instructions for use indicate that sibutramine should not be used in patients who had had a cardiovascular disease.
